What productions use them for
A container is a steel room that locks, and it goes wherever the lorry can reach. Art departments and production teams use them four ways.
Set builds
Buy a container to cut, paint and dress for the shot, or hire one as it comes for docks, yards and cargo holds.

Prop and costume stores

Craned into place
The lorry lifts the container off its own bed and sets it down where you mark it: a studio lot, a car-park unit base, a field on location. Phil checks the access with you before he books it in, anywhere in mainland UK.
How delivery works →Questions from productions
Do you deliver to film studios and locations?
Yes. Phil delivers by HIAB anywhere in mainland UK, whether that is a studio lot, a unit base or a location. Tell him the access and he will check the lorry can get in and set the container down before he books it.
Should we hire or buy a container for a production?
Hire it if you need storage, an office or a workshop for the length of the shoot: a 20ft starts at £14 a week. Buy it if the container is going to be cut, painted or dressed for the set, or if you will use it again on the next job.
Can you convert a container to our drawings?
Yes. Send Phil the drawings and he will price the build in writing: doors, windows, power, lighting, insulation and paint.
